Biofertilizer-Based Zinc Application Enhances Maize Growth, Gas Exchange Attributes, and Yield in Zinc-Deficient Soil

چکیده

Zinc (Zn) concentration in soil varies from deficient to toxic. Its deficiency, as well toxicity, through imbalanced application and cropping industrial sites can reduce maize growth yield. Therefore, balanced Zn is necessary save resources achieve optimum yield maize. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) provide tolerance the host plant against Zn-induced stress. Inoculation with AMF helps regulating uptake of enhances crops. Different rates (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 mg kg?1) were applied inoculation (AM) without (NM). Results showed that root colonization was 45% higher AMF-inoculated plants than non-inoculated plants. A significant increase height (15%), number leaves (35.4%), cob weight (4.39%), 1000-grain (10.5%), biological (42.2%) signified efficacious functioning Zn20 + AM over sole AM. We also observed helped improve photosynthesis, transpiration, stomatal conductance. Furthermore, both significantly increased total soluble protein compared Higher zinc, i.e., Zn80 Zn120, induced toxicity (NM) AMF. In conclusion, an effective treatment better deficiency or toxicity.

Role of Zinc Nutrition in Maize for Growth and Yield: An Overview

Maize (Zea mays) is one of the most important cereal crops throughout the world. It is used as feed for animals, food for human and raw material in industries. The production and yield of maize is effected due to various biotic and abiotic factors. The role of micro and macronutrients in maintenance of maize is much important. Micronutrient showed a strong influence on growth, metabolism and th...

Assessment of Genetic Variation and Zinc Deficient Tolerance in Spring Durum Wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) Genotypes in Calcareous Soil with Zinc Deficiency

Low zinc (Zn) availability and its absorption limit wheat production and quality of yield in calcareous soils. In order to identify Zn deficient stress tolerance in wheat, fifteen spring genotypes (Diyarbakir-81; Gediz-75; Svevo; Zenit; Amanos-97; Fuatbey-2000; Balcali-2000; Ceylan-95; Firat-93; Aydin-93; Ozbek; Artuklu; Akcakale-2000; Aday-19; and Ege-88) were evaluated under two conditions (n...

Growth and zinc homeostasis in the severely Zn-deficient rat.

Male weanling rats were fed on diets either adequate (55 mg/kg), or severely deficient (0.4 mg/kg) in zinc, either ad lib. or in restricted amounts in four experiments. Measurements were made of growth rates and Zn contents of muscle and several individual tissues. Zn-deficient rats exhibited the expected symptoms of deficiency including growth retardation, cyclic changes in food intake and bod...

Maize response to water, salinity and nitrogen levels: physiological growth parameters and gas exchange

A split-split-plot design with three replications in two years of 2009 and 2010 was conducted to investigate the effect of different levels of irrigation water (main plot), salinity of irrigation water (sub-plot) and nitrogen fertilizer rate (sub-subplot) on maize growth rate and gas exchange. Irrigation treatments were I1 (1.0 crop evapotranspiration (ETc)+0.25ETc as leaching), I2 (0.75I1)...
